6. 8. 1998:
"The European Commission has asked for a change in the design of the 50 and 10 cents coins in order to facilitate recognition
by the visually handicapped, make counterfeit more difficult and meet the needs of the owners of coins operated machines. The
modifications include a furrowed edge for the blind instead of a slight milling as originally plnned. The weight of the 50 cent coin
should be brought up to 7.8 gramms in order to obtain a better differentiation by vending machines agaisnt the 20 cent coin.
This last measure is also intended to prevent fooling machines by adding a cheap metal ring to the 20 cent coins in order to have
them pass for 50 cent coins."
